    CONSTITUTION

The Society was established according to Dutch law and is legally based in the Netherlands. The signatories to this document were the statutory founders of the Society and constituted its Board of Directors on inception. The statutes were discussed with a civil notary and at two board meetings before the final draft of the statutes was approved by members at the General Meeting of the Second Congress in Copenhagen. The official foundation of the Society has recently (November 2000) been officially formalised through the Dutch notary Office.

    SUMMARY OF THE STATUTES

    Statutes (pdf)

    Board of Directors

In addition to the General Assembly the Society has a Board of Directors. Among its members representation of the different European countries is sought. This Board consists of at least four official posts: the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. They are elected by the General Assembly from among the members of the Society nominated by the Board. The Vice-Chair will succeed the Chair. Members of the Board serve a three-year term. Members are eligible for re-election for a second term only. The General Assembly is held annually.

    Members

The Society has 3 types of members: ordinary, honorary and supporting.

    Committees

The Board and the General Assembly may set up committees. There will be a standing Advisory Committee. This Committee will advise the Board when requested or at its own initiative on issues including those concerning the congress. The Committee will meet during the annual congress.

    Congress

The Society organises an international congress in a European country every year. The General Assembly decides a year in advance in which country nominated by the Board the next congress will be held. The Board appoints a national committee to organise the Congress in the country concerned. The secretary of this committee is also appointed member of the standing Congress committee during the ongoing period.
