EurSafe is an independent organisation, which provides a focal point for those who have a professional interest in the ethical issues involved in agriculture and food supply. The Society, founded in 1999, is an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and non-partisan organisation. EurSafe aims to encourage academic education and research, and international debate on the ethical issues involved in agriculture and food supply.
Transforming Food Systems
How shall we provide safe and nutritious food for all, faced with the challenges of COVID-19, net zero carbon, social inequities and degraded environments, and to meet the ethical expectations of our societies?
Transforming food systems is the theme of the 2022 conference of the European Society for Agricultural and Food Ethics (EURSAFE), organised jointly by the School of Social and Political Science and the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Security of the University of Edinburgh, and the independent ethical consultancy Edinethics Ltd.
At the 2021 EurSafe congress in Fribourg the Vonne Lund Prize for best presentation by a (PhD) student was awarded to:
Former EurSafe Executive Board Member Prof Ben Mepham, of the Centre for Applied Bioethics in the School of Biosciences, has been elected to a Fellowship of the Society of Biology, the leading professional body representing the learned and other organisations comprising UK biosciences.
